Marilyn Monteagudo leans in for a kiss from Nutmeg, a dog that helps children share their feelings. Marilyn’s school is part of the New Haven Trauma Coalition, and “Soul Friends” is one of the new programs offered at school to tackle childhood trauma. Through United Ways work in the New Haven Trauma Coalition we have served 2,366 students this past school year.

With a giant smile on her face, Chanel DuBois walked across the stage to accept her diploma from Gateway Community College. Her children congratulated her with open arms on a warm evening in May. After going out for pizza to celebrate, Chanel returned home to her apartment with her children and her newly-earned legal assistant degree. This beautiful family is thriving thanks to Chanel’s tenacity, United Way, and your support.
