YPPS receives Game Changer Award.

For many years, Director Jeff Gworek and the team at Yale Printing and Publishing Services (YPPS) helped United Way of Greater New Haven by participating in the annual Yale United Way Campaign. Recently they were recognized for their efforts with the United Way Game Changer Award.

Always looking for innovative fundraising ideas, the YPPS team developed and launched the  United Way Shred Bag fundraiser in November 2019. The concept was simple for a $25 donation, all of which goes to United Way; a participant gets a shred bag that they can fill with household paper that is safely disposed of. In addition to being environmentally friendly, it protects people’s privacy. That first year it was one of the most effective fundraising activities on Yale’s campus, raising $5,000 for United Way.

With the leadership of Jeff, Joseph Relihan, Coordinator, and Jason England, Design Services Manager, YPPS, what started as a one-off event has grown into a year-round opportunity that has raised over $12,000 for United Way. The team’s passion, creativity, and dedication serve as a shining example of what it means to Live United and exemplifies the Game Changer spirit for which they were recognized.

“Any way we can encourage more people to be involved whether through volunteering or donating, it impacts many of those in need of services across the region. It’s simply the right thing to do. For me, I’ve had the chance to get to know many more very committed people from both Yale and the United Way. The passion is tremendous, and it shows in the results,” said Jeff Gworek, Director, YPPS.

Congratulations to Jeff, Joe, Jason, and everyone at YPPS who made this fundraiser happen.
