Supporters of United Way of Greater New Haven (UWGNH) gathered for a celebration on a beautiful warm evening Wednesday, June 15, to honor individuals and businesses that have gone above and beyond in uplifting UWGNH’s work. Among the awards given to individuals and local businesses for their fundraising and support, Yale University received a Live United Award for its long-term partnership with United Way.

Yale University accepted the Live United Award in recognition of their over 60 years of partnership with United Way of Greater New Haven, which has resulted in over $28 million raised and invested in the community. This year, despite the challenges of the pandemic and a hybrid work environment, thousands of donors and volunteers took action by sharing their time, talent and treasure resulting in a record-breaking campaign that raised over $1.4 million. United Way thanked Yale University for helping to build a stronger, more equitable community.

“Yale’s leadership and employees are committed to helping to improve the lives of community members — ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and succeed,” said Fred Borrelli, Chief Administrative Officer for Yale School of Medicine, “Yale is proud to be part of that future and is proud to be a part of this community.”
