One Week, Four Ways You Can Support Our Community

Join the United Way of Greater New Haven’s Week of Caring, September 29 - October 3, and help strengthen our community. This year’s volunteer opportunities include donating diapers to families in need, beautifying homes for local veterans, maintaining community gardens, and fostering children’s literacy through reading programs. Harkness Veterans House Painting
Join us to paint the living area at Columbus House’s Harkness Veterans Home. This program provides housing for homeless male Veterans, connecting them to services, expanding their social and employment skills, and more.

Community Garden Clean Up
Partnering with Gather New Haven, we will help to support one of their four community farm sites in New Haven! Together these farms produce roughly 8,000 pounds of organically grown vegetables each year for our community.

Diaper Drive
1 in 3 Connecticut families struggles to afford an adequate supply of diapers. Because of this, we are partnering with the CT Diaper Bank to collect diaper donations of all sizes! Donations will be repackaged and distributed to families across the state.

Washington School Reading
You can be a part of promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading among our community’s young learners! Sign up and to read to the students at the Washington Elementary School in West Haven.
